Honeywell Aerospace (NASDAQ: HONA) has been awarded a three-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for the repair and overhaul (R&O) of its T55-GA-714A Turboshaft engines that power CH-47 Chinook helicopters around the globe. This contract award will ensure the Chinook fleets of the U.S. Army and foreign military customers continue to operate with high readiness and unmatched performance. The engines will be serviced at Honeywell’s Engine Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Center at the company’s Aerospace headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Honeywell Aerospace has leveraged the proven best commercial practices of its Phoenix facility to increase T55 R&O capacity and reduce repair turnaround times.
“For the T55 R&O line, we use the same proven and robust processes that we use on our FAA-certified line to service industry-leading turbofan engines used on premier business jets,” said Brian Laughton, senior director and site leader of Honeywell Aerospace’s Phoenix R&O facility. “Capitalizing on these proven commercial processes has enabled us to double our capacity in the facility and reduce cycle time to ensure we are meeting delivery commitments to our customers.”
As a world leader in heavy lift, the CH-47 Chinook helicopter is used by the U.S. Army, more than 15 foreign militaries, as well as several commercial operators. Since 1961, Honeywell has grown the horsepower of the T55 engine three-fold, while also improving fuel efficiency and lowering the maintenance burden for operators.
