Honeywell Aerospace Launches High-speed, Multi-network Satcom System for C-130 Aircraft

Honeywell Aerospace announced a new portable satellite communication system for C-130 operators worldwide: JetWave X Hatch Mount Antenna (HMA).

Developed in partnership with R4 Integration, Inc. (R4I), the C-130 HMA enables access to multiple networks, including the new Viasat 3 ultra-high-capacity satellite network, while providing the resilient communications needed to support critical missions. It also provides the operator their choice of network.

“JetWave X enables global coverage at high speeds, giving C-130 operators the resilience and flexibility for successful missions, even under contested or degraded conditions,” said Tom Konicki, director of business development at Honeywell Aerospace. “When satellite signals are jammed or degraded, JetWave X can jump from one network to another to keep the warfighter connected.”

JetWave X delivers industry-leading download speeds exceeding 300 Mbps in busy flight corridors, which is a significant improvement over most in-service satcom systems, along with upload speeds of up to 25 Mbps.

In addition to speed advantages, a portable HMA solution can save operators thousands of dollars per aircraft in installation costs (and downtime) compared with a typical fuselage-mounted satcom system.  Honeywell Aerospace’s HMA kit can be moved from aircraft to aircraft in approximately one hour, allowing the operator to quickly move needed satcom capability among their fleet.
