Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 1 (WZL-1), the Military Central Bureau of Design and Technology (WCBKT) and Boeing have signed offset implementation agreements to establish long-term industrial cooperation supporting Poland’s AH-64E Apache helicopter fleet.
The agreements will strengthen Poland’s domestic capabilities for maintaining and sustaining its Apache fleet. WZL-1 will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services, including organisational- and intermediate-level inspections and repairs, as well as selected depot-level component work.
Boeing will provide technical expertise, resources and training to WZL-1 and WCBKT personnel. The objective is to develop the industrial skills and workforce required to maintain the helicopters and support their operational readiness within Poland.
The partnership also includes an evaluation of selected WCBKT ground support equipment for use with the AH-64E Apache. The assessment will examine the suitability of Polish-designed and manufactured equipment and its potential future role within the Apache sustainment programme.
The agreements are part of Poland’s broader effort to build domestic support infrastructure for its new Apache fleet. Poland has contracted for 96 AH-64E helicopters and is set to become the second-largest Apache operator worldwide after the United States.
WZL-1 is expected to establish the largest Apache support infrastructure in Europe, creating an important regional capability for helicopter maintenance and sustainment. The facility will also contribute to the development of Polish defence-industry expertise in supporting advanced military aviation platforms.
For WCBKT, the programme provides an opportunity to expand its capabilities in the design, manufacture and servicing of ground support equipment while increasing Polish industry participation in the Apache programme.
The agreements strengthen Boeing’s industrial partnership with Poland while supporting the country’s goal of developing greater sovereign maintenance and sustainment capabilities for its armed forces.
