IDE continues to reinforce its role as a trusted European prime contractor and coordinator across Defense and Aerospace domains. By expanding its technological footprint in Secure SatCom, 5G/6G Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), resilient navigation (GNSS/GNSS-denied), and AIT/MAIT capabilities for dual-use applications, IDE remains at the forefront of European Space Agency (ESA) and European Defence Fund (EDF) initiatives.
IDE proudly announces the kickoff of two major ESA projects under the ARTES (Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems) program line, leading strong consortia composed of leading Greek industrial and academic entities.
SIRIUS: AI-enhanced interference resilience for SatCom
Kicking off under the ESA ARTES 4S budget line, SIRIUS (Smart Interference-Resilient Intelligent Unified SATCOM) targets the development and assessment of an integrated, AI-enhanced adaptive antenna array concept for satellite communication terminals. The project addresses antenna architectures, signal processing, and intelligent control within a unified system framework to automatically detect, classify, and mitigate interference in complex and dynamic environments.
STARWAVE-6G: Paving the way for 6G Non-Terrestrial Networks
Focusing on future space network architectures, STARWAVE-6G (Systems Testbed for Advanced Radio Waveforms – 6G), an ESA ARTES 5G project, will explore, design, and validate candidate 6G waveforms for Non-Terrestrial Networks. The objective is to achieve higher spectral efficiency, enhanced robustness, and superior system performance compared to current 5G NR benchmarks under realistic satellite communication conditions. Key focus areas include OTFS, RSMA, and beyond-OFDM schemes, low-complexity hardware architectures, standardization impact, and Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS) capabilities.
These important contract awards underscore the technical capability and dedication of IDE’s engineering teams. Moreover, they reflect IDE’s commitment to expanding Greece’s presence in the global space supply chain, fostering high-tech domestic research collaboration, and contributing directly to Europe’s strategic autonomy in secure space communications.
