GKN Aerospace to Support Next Phase of UK MoD’s Project NYX with Anduril UK

by EDI Editorial Staff

GKN Aerospace will play a central role in Anduril UK’s team following the UK Ministry of Defence’s decision to down-select the company for the next phase of Project NYX. Bringing world-class expertise in lightweight aerostructures and advanced manufacturing, GKN Aerospace is proud to support the delivery of this critical capability for the British Army.

The programme will deliver a new generation of autonomous collaborative platforms designed to operate alongside Apache helicopters, boosting combat mass, extending reach, and enhancing survivability in contested environments.

Building on its strong presence on the Isle of Wight, where it employs approximately 1,000 people, GKN Aerospace will help scale production of this next-generation platform. The programme underscores the strength of the UK’s sovereign defence industrial base, combining cutting-edge autonomous technology with proven aerospace engineering. It also represents a major opportunity for regional growth, with the potential to create up to 100 new high-skilled jobs on the Isle of Wight as the programme progresses.

Working alongside Anduril UK and Archer — a global leader in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft — as well as a team of leading British technology partners, GKN Aerospace is helping to deliver a flexible, modular, and future-ready capability for the British Army. Project NYX highlights the power of industry and government working together to strengthen national security while building long-term value for the UK. As a core part of this team, GKN Aerospace remains committed to advancing cutting-edge technologies and investing in the next phase of the UK’s defence innovation and industrial capability.
