Daimler Truck Receives Order for 61 Mercedes-Benz Unimog Vehicles for NZDF

by EDI Editorial Staff

Daimler Truck Defence will supply the New Zealand Ministry of Defence and New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) with 61 Mercedes-Benz Unimog vehicles as part of a fleet renewal programme. The vehicles are part of an investment by the New Zealand Government to modernise its logistics and support fleet for training, transport tasks, disaster relief and emergency operations in New Zealand. The phased delivery of the new vehicles is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Daniel Zittel, Chief Sales Officer, Daimler Truck Defence: “The NDZF’s decision to select the Mercedes-Benz Unimog is a strong vote of confidence in the capability, versatility, and reliability of our vehicle. We are proud to support the New Zealand Defence Force in its daily transport, support, and relief operations with a dependable and high-performance mobility solution in the future.”

With this order, the NZDF is once again relying on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. The vehicles are intended for day-to-day training operations and for transporting personnel and equipment within and between New Zealand military sites. They will also be used for search and rescue operations as well as for domestic humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
